Smallville, the TV show that depicted the Man of Steel before he donned his suit and cape, had a 10 year run that ended in 2011. It was a nice surprise when Funko announced in 2018 that they would release a small list of Smallville Funko Pops, considering how long the series had been off the air for.
There are currently only 5 Smallville Pop Vinyls to chose from making this one of the smallest Funko Blog posts we’ve done. What seems apparent is that they’ve gone for characters from the final season of Smallville.
You have Lex Luthor in his white suite, Lois in her classic reporter outfit, Green Arrow in his combat gear and Clark Kent in his Daily Planet attire and wearing the Superman outfit, which he only puts on in the last few minutes of the show. The other Pop is the young CK bearing the S for the highschool Scarecrow tradition, which is the box art for the first Season.
Hopefully in time there will be more releases of Smallville Pop Vinyls, as Funko has a large roster of characters to chose from the series. Lana Lang, Chloe, Pete, Martha and Jonathan Kent, Lionel Luthor, Kara (Supergirl) are all still missing. Also variations of the current figures they have, such as the Blur and Clark Kent’s signature primary colour ensemble.
The show is quite old now (it finished in 2011), so perhaps there is not much hurry or demand to do a second wave of Smallville Pops, but fingers crossed.
Check out out Funko Blog below for the 5 Pops from the awesome show. Also, they’re still at a great price.
Clark Kent Funko Pop Vinyl
This Smallville Pop Vinyl of Clark Kent (#625) is from the last episode of the show where he finally becomes Superman.
The pose is from the classic moment when he heeds the call for help and changes into the Man of Steel. The highlight of the Pop is of course the reveal of the famous symbol, which fans of the show had been waiting to see for 10 years. The detailing is great, with the shirt and tie pulled away.
The rest of the Smallville Pop is straightforward in terms of design, however glasses on Kent would have been a nice touch (even if he does take them off before unveiling his family crest).

Lex Luthor Funko Pop Vinyl
Superman’s arch nemesis Lex Luthor, which in the Smallville show he knew from a young age, has him wearing the classic white suit which he is known for in the comic books. The actor Michael Rosenbaum left the show in season 7, but returned to do the finale episode.
The Lex Luthor Pop (#626) is a must have for Smallville fans as he was in my opinion the best character in the show.
The suit is the main attraction here in terms of design work (the big bald head is the obvious draw, but there is not much to talk about!). The all in white garments have been meticulously realised, with great moulding work around the lapel and shirt and tie. The singular black glove and pistol add a nice contrast.

Clark Kent Funko Pop Vinyl
This is perhaps the best Smallville Pop Vinyl in the Funko Blog, made instantly recognisable due to it being from the first season and on the box art of the DVD collection.
The young Clark Kent, only in his underwear with a red spray-painted ‘S’ on his chest, is from the first episode of the show. Clark is picked by the jocks to be the ‘scarecrow’, an unofficial high school tradition where someone is tied up in a field. Despite his superhuman strength, Clark couldn’t overpower the assailants due to one of having Lana Lang’s Kryptonite necklace, which is then put around CK’s neck.
The Clark Kent Pop (#627) captures the young Kryptonian perfectly – his dishevelled hair, the red spray paint ‘S’ on his buff chest, boxers and boots – are all accurate to the show. The neat little touch was including the Lana’s green Kryptonite necklace.

Green Arrow Funko Pop Vinyl
Clarks best buddy for the majority of the show, Oliver Queen’s alter ego as the Green Arrow was one of the highlights of Smallville.
Despite the costume looking a little dated now (especially when you compare it with the latest DC show based on the character, it is easily the most cool looking Smallville Pop Vinyl of the bunch.
The Green Arrow Pop Vinyl (#628) has tons of great detail and a fantastic paint job. The green suit itself looks fab – there is in particular nice moulding on his chest plates so it isn’t just painted on, it’s raised. The bow weapon is also highly detailed, with the hinges, rotaries and technical gizmos all well done.

Lois Lane Funko Pop Vinyl
You can’t have Smallville Pops without Lois Lane!
Lois didn’t arrive to Smallville until season 4, but when she did the spunky reporter made a massive impression on the fanbase and most importantly of course, Clark Kent.
The Lois Lane Pop Vinyl has her in wearing a reporter ensemble from the last episode when her and Clark are working at the Daily Planet. The hair is really spot on – you can instantly recognise who she is without looking at the rest of the figure. Her pinstriped two-piece attire is well detailed with a nice sheen to it and her hand on hip pose is very Lois.
