The Simpsons Funko Pop Guide – Mmmmmmm…. Funko Pops

The Simpsons Funko Pops

The Simpsons Funko Pop line is surprisingly small considering the show has been on the air for over 30 years.

There have only been two waves of Simpsons Pops released so far, with the first wave being the first Pops released in Funko’s Animation line way back in 2011. There were only 4 Simpsons characters made – Homer, Marge, Bart and Krusty the Clown. Since then, nothing…

Until now – Funko have finally released their 2nd wave of Simpson Pops, with 8 in total. Considering how many characters Simpsons has and how successful Funko Pops are, you can bet that there will be more on the way.

Bartman Funko Pop

Bartman Funko Pop

Bart Simpson’s alter ego Bartman in Pop form is awesome dude!

This Simpsons Funko Pop (#503) – like the others in this list – has a wonderful sculpt. Bart’s spikey hair looks great, which is hard to do considering this part of the 2D character is usually never seen in the cartoon.

The flowing cape and clothing is simple, but effective, with gorgeous purple and blues contrasting nicely with the yellow (I’m pretty sure that I can’t sound racist describing a Simpsons character).

Homer Simpsons Muumuu Funko Pop

Homer Simpsons Muumuu Funko Pop

“The fingers you have used to dial are too fat. To obtain a special dialing wand, please mash the keypad with your palm now.”

Looking back on Simpsons episodes, some are now considered quite edgy. This Simpsons Pop (#502) is based on when Homer purposely gets fat to claim a disability allowance.

Dressed in a flowery Muumuu and cap, Homer has some nice decal work – but if I’m honest, there isn’t much to it apart from the obvious ‘king-sized’ shape of the main man.

This is a Hot Topic Exclusive exclusive, so it is a little tricky to get hold of. Hopefully there will be more Homers to come.

Mr. Burns Funko Pop

Mr. Burns Funko Pop

This Simpsons Pop is ‘excellent’. Sorry, couldn’t resist!

In classic stance with his creepy fingers in a power pose, Mr Burns (#501) looks sinister.

There are some great little touches to this Pop; the 3 liver spots on the forehead, his eyes scowling and his classic green suit with creasing in the arms and neat lapels.

Definitely my favourite in the new Simpsons Pop wave and a great choice by Funko to bring this dastardly character to Pop form. Release the hounds.

Moe Szyslack Funko Pop

Moe Szyslack Funko Pop

Moe is one of the characters in The Simpsons who has perhaps the saddest story – though angry on the outside, he is lonely at heart. Because of this, he is one of the more realistic residents of Springfield compared to all the wacky ones.

Looking at his Pop (#500), Funko have captured the bartender perfectly. His ‘piggy’ nose (though not as big as Cheif Wiggam’s), unimpressed look and grey hair are spot on.

His crossed arm pose with a dish towel is a nice touch, and his apron has some subtle loose contouring. Nice dickiebow too.

Overall, this is a great Simpsons Pop.

Grandpa Simpson Funko Pop

Grandpa Simpson Funko Pop

“Now, my story begins in 19-dickety-two. We had to say ‘dickety’ cause that Kaiser had stolen our word ‘twenty.’ I chased that rascal to get it back, but gave up after dickety-six miles…”

Good old Grandpa Simpson! This Pop (#499) has some great details – his weird tuft of hair, ageing lines, his little spectacles and his bolo tie. You can also see where homer gets his pot belly from!

Maggie Simpson Funko Pop

Maggie Simpson Funko Pop

Maggie is such a cutey here!

The little Simpsons Funko Pop (#498) is adorable with her blue bow and red pacifier. Arms outstretched to be picked up and on her knees, the sculpt looks great, particularly the triangular hairstyle which covers the back of her head.

An essential to Simpsons fans, let’s hope they release one with her brandishing the sniper rifle!

Lisa Simpson Funko Pop

Lisa Simpson Funko Pop

Similar to Maggie, this is the first Lisa Simpson Pop (#497) ever and Funko have gone for the classic option, with the genius holding her saxophone.

Asides from her hair (which again, similar to Lisa’s little sister), the main details on this Simpsons Pop is her little necklace and of course, her instrument. The saxophone has a nice shiny bronze paint job, with all the valves exactly where they should be from the show.

Fans of the future Madam President will be delighted with this!

Radioactive Man Funko Pop

Radioactive Man Funko Pop

Interesting that Funko picked Radioactive Man (#496) as a Pop, because technically he’s not a Simpsons character (rather a character from a movie from the world of The Simpsons).

Regardless, they’ve done a good job of the hero, with some nice radiation decals on the head and chest, a nicely contoured brow, nice head piece and swish cape and boots.

Nice paint job too, the red really stands out amongst the other Pops here, and this one would look great teamed up with the Bartman.

Vaulted Simpsons Funko Pops

Now for the vaulted Simpsons Pops – these were the first released in 2011 and started off Funko’s animation line – as you can see these are numbered 1 to 4.

Needless to say, these are pricey and are only really for the avid collector:

Homer Simpson: $210

Marge Simpson: $260

Bart Simpson: $300

Krusty The Clown: £300
