Pokemon Funko Pops – Our Pokedex to Catch Em All!

Finally, we have Pokemon Funko Pops!

I think most Pop collectors have often thought that Pokemon would be the best idea for a Funko line – hundreds of cute creatures in Pop form would look awesome. Why it has taken so long, I have no idea, but I’m glad we finally have them.

The first Pokemon which was released was Pikachu (an obvious choice), however he is already tough to get hold of and if you do find him, he’s gonna cost you over $50 already. My advice – start catching them now, before it’s too late. These things are flying off the shelves. You are a Pokemon trainer, right?

What’s interesting is that Pokemon Pops are only available in the USA – Funko doesn’t have the license to sell them anywhere else. Those of you who are outside of the US are going to have to buy them on import. Amazon is a great place to get them and sometimes don’t have duty fees.

So far only a few characters have been released, but you can bet that this line will continue for years to come due to literally hundreds of Pokemon at Funko’s disposal.

Pokeballs ready?

Squirtle Funko Pop

Squirtle Funko Pop

My favourite Pokemon, this was my starter on the original Gameboy game.

This Pokemon pop has a lovely shade of baby blue, with some nice little detailing on his shell.

At the time of writing, no sunglasses version yet, but that’s sure to be something Funko can’t miss out on!

Charmander Funko Pop

Charmander Funko Pop

The third Pokemon Pop released is the adorable Charmander.

Funko have captured the little fire breather perfectly. The main trait of this starter Pokemon is his flaming tail.

The flame can be used as an indication of Charmander’s health and mood, burning brightly when the Pokémon is ready for battle, weakly when it is tired, wavering when it is happy, and blazing when it is enraged.

Judging by the tail on this Pokemon Pop it looks like he’s happy – he is smiling after all! Funko have given this Pop some nice attention to detail with the flame – it’s a see-through plastic which catches the light, so great if you’ve got backlighting behind your Pops.

The paint job is great, with the vibrant orange skin looking gorgeous along with his yellow underbelly.

If you want a near life-size Charmander, this is your best bet.

The little fire breather stands at 10″ tall.

Bulbasaur Funko Pop

Bulba Bulba!

The first starter Pokemon Funko Pop released is the awesome Bulbasaur.

Funko have taken great care to get this little guy just right, with the little quadruped’s green skin and dark patches molded individually, giving it some texture.

The bulb on his back is wonderfully sculpted, with nice smooth contouring reaching the bud – though no sign of it flashing blue just yet…

This Giant Bulbasaur stands at 10″ tall and may as well be life-sized!

It uses the exact same mold as the the standard sized Pokemon Pop, so there isn’t any extra detail here – but you’re not buying it for that!

Pikachu Funko Pop

Pikachu Funko Pop

Pikachu was the obvious choice as the first Pokemon to be released, though due to this he is now the hardest to ‘catch’ – at least in the wild!

This Pokemon Funko Pop is going for around $30 now due to the high demand – more if you’re buying it on eBay or other private sellers. And it’s only going to increase.

The thing is, no Pokemon Pop collection can be without this guy, so you’re going to buy it sooner or later.

Pikachu’s lightning yellow looks fab, with the details all captured such as his rosy red cheeks and black tipped ears. The overall sculpt is excellent, with his happy pose and of course the zigzag lightning tail peeking out from behind.

Similar to Bulbasaur, this 10″ Pikachu is awesome – only trouble is it’s difficult to get hold of unless you’re willing to pay a bit extra due to demand.

Great for a costume if you want to dress up as Ash!
